$1,000 invested in SpaceX stock 1 month ago is now worth

In the last 30 days, SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) stock saw significant volatility and two strong rallies, with one taking it above $170 for the first time since June, but by press time in the October 23 pre-market, its destination proved unexpectedly close to the start of the journey.

Specifically, if an investor put $1,000 in SPCX shares close to the evening bell on September 23, they would have purchased the equity at roughly $148.36. On October 22, SpaceX stock closed at $144.75 and, the following morning, it was changing hands at $149.43 after a 3.23% extended-session rally.

Considering the price moves, the original $1,000 investment would have become $975.70 – for an unrealized loss of $24.30 – by Thursday evening, and it would have turned into $1,007.21 in the Friday pre-market – a $7.21 unrealized gain.

Notably, and despite the latest regular-session drop – SPCX crashed 9.14% on October 22 – the equity remains above its initial public offering (IPO) price of $135, though it is, nonetheless, below both the June 12 morning price of $150 and the evening price of $160.95.

Interestingly, it is roughly in the middle of the range from the $225.64 all-time high (ATH) and the $104.83 all-time low, though, admittedly, closer to the lower bound, being $76.21 – 33.78% – away from the former, and $44.60 – 42.55% – away from the latter.

What’s next for SpaceX stock?

Meanwhile, the recent volatility has done little to dampen Wall Street’s enthusiasm for Elon Musk’s newer public company, as it has, throughout the last 30 days, recorded several important achievements and technological milestones.

For example, the recent Starship Flight 14 proved a remarkable success as the SpaceX rocket launch managed orbital insertion and deployed Starlink satellites for the first time ever.

Additionally, the company managed to, in collaboration with Musk’s other public company, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), enable the new Roadster to achieve a type of flight, as dramatically showcased at the October 15 event.

The third quarter (Q3) also featured strong financial results, with SpaceX’s revenue soaring from $7.81 billion in Q2 to $14.58 billion, and earnings-per-share (EPS) rising from a $0.09 loss to a $0.45 gain.

Furthermore, the firm might soon grow even larger as a merger between Musk’s car and rocket, telecommunications, artificial intelligence (AI), and social media company appears highly likely, with the prominent analyst Dan Ives putting the odds of it taking place at 80% or higher.

Lastly, the developments also led to multiple new and increasingly bullish Wall Street 12-month price targets, with JPMorgan’s (NYSE: JPM) forecast revision from $240 to $500 perhaps being the most illustrative of the institutional optimism.
