AI predicts SpaceX record-high stock price when SPCX joins S&P 500

AI predicts SpaceX record-high price when SPCX joins S&P 500

SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) stock could surge to a record high of $350 after joining the S&P 500, according to an analysis by ChatGPT.

The artificial intelligence model projects SpaceX could trade in a base-case range of $300 to $400 following S&P 500 inclusion, with $350 identified as the most likely peak under current conditions.

In a bearish scenario, the stock could reach between $200 and $250, while a bullish outcome driven by stronger execution could push shares to between $500 and $700 or higher.

ChatGPT based its outlook on expected passive inflows from S&P 500 inclusion, continued Starlink growth, Starship progress, improving profitability, and rising institutional ownership.

The model noted that investors increasingly value SpaceX as a combination of a launch provider, satellite internet operator, defense contractor, and AI infrastructure company rather than a traditional aerospace firm.

However, ChatGPT said S&P 500 inclusion alone would not justify a record high. The company would also need sustained earnings growth, continued Starlink expansion, successful Starship execution, and supportive market conditions.

According to ChatGPT, investors increasingly view SpaceX as more than a rocket company, with exposure to satellite internet, commercial launches, defense contracts, and AI infrastructure.

The model highlighted Starlink, which operates more than 11,000 satellites and generates recurring subscription revenue, and Starship, whose planned September 28 test flight is viewed as a key long-term catalyst that could lower launch costs and unlock new commercial opportunities. Strong demand for launch services also supports SpaceX’s growth outlook.

The forecast comes as SpaceX closed the last session at $151per share after recovering from its post-IPO decline. The stock debuted at $135 during its June 2026 IPO and later climbed to a post-listing high of about $226 before retreating.

SpaceX stock S&P 500 inclusion

Despite its size and market prominence, SpaceX is not currently eligible for inclusion in the S&P 500.

To qualify, the company must complete at least 12 months as a publicly traded company, maintain positive GAAP earnings over the trailing four quarters, and meet liquidity and free-float requirements.

Earlier in 2026, S&P Dow Jones Indices considered changing its rules to accelerate inclusion for large IPOs such as SpaceX. However, the proposal was rejected, delaying any potential entry into the benchmark index.

As things stand, SpaceX is unlikely to qualify before mid-2027, assuming it satisfies all eligibility criteria.

The company has nevertheless gained entry into other major indexes such as the Nasdaq-100 in July 2026 and the Russell 1000.

Notably, an S&P 500 inclusion could trigger roughly $10 billion in passive inflows as index-tracking funds and ETFs buy the stock. Such demand could support higher prices, particularly if SpaceX’s free float remains limited.
