The first half of 2025 has seen some noteworthy developments and surprises when it comes to crypto, with, for example, Bitcoin (BTC) hitting an all-time high of $111,000 and Coinbase making its way to the S&P 500.
Of course, the surprises were not all positive. The overall sector market capitalization, for instance, dropped from a high of $3.25 trillion to $2.65 trillion in the first quarter.
Nonetheless, it appears that some momentum is being generated once again, with Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), and XRP showing some sizable gains on June 4, and the general market reacting positively to President Trump’s tariff pauses.
With these developments taken into consideration, Finbold has asked OpenAI’s ChatGPT to come up with an ideal $1,000 crypto portfolio for the second half of the year (H2).
ChatGPT makes top crypto picks for H2, 2025
With liquidity rotating between large-caps and speculative microcaps, ChatGPT suggested a diversified, if somewhat conservative, portfolio, suggesting a desire to keep track of both staple and emerging plays.
Unsurprisingly, then, BTC was the foundation for its suggested portfolio, with a 30% recommended allocation. The rationale is, of course, the coin’s status in the market and the new waves being generated by BTC exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Ethereum was next in line, with a recommended allocation of 20%. As ChatGPT put it, the token is still the leader in decentralized finance (DeFi).

ChatGPT was a bit less dogmatic in the rest of the portfolio, although all of its picks were chosen on the same rationale. For instance, it suggested a 15% allocation for Arbitrum (ARB) and Optimism (OP) for their scaling capabilities on Ethereum and EigenLayer (EIGEN) and a 10% allocation for Pendle (PENDLE) for their restaking and yield-tokenization capabilities.
In addition, the AI suggested that 10% of the portfolio comprise Render (RNDR) or Akash (AKT) for their exposure to decentralized compute and AI decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN).

As for the rest, the AI recommended a mixture of Celestia (TIA) or Avail (AVAIL), meme coins such as Pepe (PEPE) or Dogwifhat (WIF), and a new token that might capitalize on the market narrative shifts in the coming months.

Should you invest in crypto right now?
Focusing on the most recent market developments and the suggestions provided by ChatGPT, we asked the AI if investing in crypto in June 2025 would be a smart move.
In response, ChatGPT highlighted BTC ETFs and ETH layer-2 (L2) adoption as bullish factors, adding the steady on-chain activity, rotation opportunities, and relative undervaluation of some projects as additional reasons to stay optimistic.

However, the AI also noted some reasons investors might stay cautious. Most notably, it cited the current macroeconomic uncertainties in the U.S., as well as the bleed risk of some altcoins and liquidity fragmentation.

The bottom line is that investing in crypto in June 2025 could be smart, provided you stay conservative, plan ahead, and focus on the basics, such as restaking.
