Considering the stark difference in the stock market performance of the two preeminent beverage giants – Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) and PepsiCo Inc. (NASDAQ: PEP) – the better investment for 2027 might appear self-evident, but the details of the two firms call for closer scrutiny.
To begin with, both companies offer attractive dividend yields, with KO shares giving 2.31% annually and PEP 4.46% each year.
Pepsi stock offers both a higher fixed payment and has, at face value, grown less expensive than its competitor, considering it recorded a 6.75% drop to $132.63.

Under the circumstances, an investor would need to invest $132.63 in PEP shares to receive $1.48 in dividends each quarter – assuming the yield remains unchanged – and $13,263 to receive $148 every three months.
In contrast, Coca-Cola stock is up 32.71% year-to-date (YTD) and met the Wednesday, October 28 close at $91.73.

Thus, one would need to put $91.73 in KO to receive $0.53 each quarter – once again, provided the numbers remain unchanged – and $9,173 to purchase 100 shares to receive $53 in dividends.
Normalizing the difference to a $1,000 investment and using the latest confirmed figures, Coca-Cola would yield $5.76 every three months and $23.10 annually, and Pepsi stock would pay $11.15 per quarter and $44.60 per year, seemingly positioning PEP equity as the superior buy.
Short-term outlook for Coca-Cola stock and Pepsi shares
Notably, however, technical analysis of the two beverage giants demonstrates that Coca-Cola remains a safer investment for the time being.
The overall technical analysis (TA) reading, broadly based on moving averages (MA) and oscillators that Finbold retrieved from TradingView on October 29, positions KO shares as a ‘Buy’ based on the last day, week, and month of trading.

Simultaneously, the same measurements taken from the same source position PEP stock as a decisive ‘Sell.’

Lastly, Wall Street analysts are equally unkind toward Pepsi with their long-term forecasts. TipRanks data Finbold retrieved on October 29 shows that institutional analysts regard PEP shares as a ‘Hold’ overall, and view Coca-Cola stock as a ‘Strong Buy.’

The 12-month price target for Pepsi estimates the equity will rise 5.51% to $139.94 within the timeframe, while KO is expected to rally 7.72% to $98.81.

Thus, Coca-Cola stock appears, despite already rising as much as 32.71% in 2026, to be a better overall investment, though PEP retains the edge as a pure dividend play going into 2027.
