After a rapid rally that started on August 19, Bitcoin (BTC) has seemingly entered a consolidation phase, with $80,000 proving a difficult value to hold, and one cryptocurrency expert believes a coming correction might be a prime buying opportunity.

Specifically, the popular on-chain analyst, Ali Martinez, took to X early on Thursday, August 27, to outline why BTC might soon experience a temporary price crash and why the downturn could be the best time to accumulate ahead of an upsurge toward $100,000.
Why a Bitcoin price correction might be imminent
According to the expert, the recent chart patterns are reminiscent of the ‘he 2022–2023 bottoming structure’ when Bitcoin broke the resistance trendline in early 2023, rose, and then temporarily fell after testing the August 2022 highs.
In the context of the 2026 cryptocurrency market, BTC is likely to fail its first attempt at breaching the $83,307 resistance, with on-chain trader profit margins reaching 25% – a phenomenon that often preceded significant profit-taking – backing the notion that a correction is coming.
According to Martinez, the two likely zones where the world’s premier cryptocurrency could halt the short-term downtrend are in the support range between $76,996 and $78,258, and, if the zone is lost, close to $63,111.
Finally, the analyst concluded that the two regions could present excellent buying opportunities before the increasingly expected and potential upsurge back toward $100,000 – a price last held in November 2025.
Could Bitcoin reclaim $100,000 in 2026?
Meanwhile, August saw a substantial sentiment shift in the cryptocurrency markets with multiple popular social media analysts and institutional experts predicting an imminent pivot into a new bull market.
Though enthusiasm over the hoped-for CLARITY Act vote, CFTC’s willingness to step in should no legal framework be passed, and President Donald Trump’s remarks regarding a possible national reserve all helped trigger the rally, its causes and trajectory are arguably more structural.
Indeed, multiple major banks predicted Bitcoin would end the year at or above $100,000 already at the start of 2026, and Ali Martinez himself forecasted BTC would find its cycle bottom in early October.
Under the circumstances, the next upsurge appears likely to come either ‘on schedule’ or shortly ahead of it.
