Dell or Micron? We asked ChatGPT which is the better stock to buy for end of 2026

Dell or Micron? We asked ChatGPT which is the better stock to buy for end of 2026

Stocks

Throughout 2026, the artificial intelligence sector has produced two standout winners in the name of  Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) and Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU).

Indeed, based on their outstanding performance, the two stocks have left investors weighing which offers the better opportunity as 2026 draws to a close.

To determine which stock offers the stronger opportunity through year-end, Finbold asked ChatGPT to compare Dell and Micron based on their 2026 performance, business fundamentals, and the key drivers behind their recent rallies.

After evaluating both companies, ChatGPT identified Micron, which has rallied 225% in 2026, as the preferred stock to buy, citing its exposure to one of the most critical bottlenecks in the artificial intelligence supply chain.

The case for DELL

Notably, Dell, up 325% year-to-date, has emerged as one of the biggest AI infrastructure winners this year as demand for servers and data center equipment continues to accelerate.

The company’s latest results highlighted the scale of that growth, reporting AI server orders of approximately $60.9 billion and an AI server backlog of $95 billion.

At the same time, management raised fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to about $192 billion and increased its non-GAAP earnings outlook.

The rally has been fueled by strong spending from hyperscalers, cloud providers, and enterprises investing heavily in AI infrastructure.

Dell is no longer viewed primarily as a PC manufacturer but increasingly as a major supplier of AI servers and data center systems.

Investors have also welcomed signs that AI demand is supporting broader parts of the business. Dell’s server and networking division posted triple-digit growth, while the PC segment delivered its fastest expansion in several years.

The case for MU stock

While Dell has benefited from AI infrastructure spending, Micron has been driven by a different trend: AI memory demand.

The memory manufacturer sits at the center of one of the most supply-constrained segments of the AI market. Modern AI systems require large amounts of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), DRAM, and advanced storage solutions, creating demand that continues to exceed available supply.

Micron has capitalized on this trend through rising memory prices, growing HBM shipments, and long-term customer commitments. The company has also introduced new AI-focused memory products, including a 512GB DDR5 module designed for AI servers.

According to recent industry commentary, memory shortages could persist into 2027, providing continued support for pricing and profitability across the sector.

The verdict

ChatGPT ultimately favored Micron as the better stock to buy for the end of 2026, despite highlighting Dell’s strong fundamentals and massive AI server backlog.

The AI model’s reasoning centered on Micron’s position in the AI supply chain. While Dell benefits from selling AI infrastructure, Micron supplies critical memory components that remain in short supply.

With HBM demand still outpacing supply, Micron appears better positioned to benefit directly from ongoing AI spending through stronger pricing power and earnings growth.

Although Dell offers greater diversification and potentially lower volatility, ChatGPT concluded that Micron presents the more attractive risk-reward opportunity for the remainder of 2026.
