Does Sydney Sweeney Hold XRP? Cardano’s Hoskinson Weighs In
Marko

Sydney Sweeney has found herself in the center of the crypto community’s attention, as Cardano (ADA) founder Charles Hoskinson jokingly suggested that she owns XRP after Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz posed in front of an advertisement featuring the actress.

The exchange began on X when Schwartz shared a selfie in front of a billboard promoting Sweeney’s campaign for Novig, a sports prediction marketplace, instead of a billboard celebrating crypto treasury company Evernorth’s NASDAQ listing.

Schwartz later posted another selfie, this time in fron of the right billboard, and acknowledged the earlier “mix-up,” but not before Hoskinson could comment on Sweeney’s supposed crypto holdings.

“I knew she had XRP,” Hoskinson replied to Schwartz.

Of course, the whole ordeal was nothing more than an exchange of quips, and there is no way of knowing whether the Euphoria star actually owns XRP or any other digital currency.

Not the first Sydney Sweeney’s XRP rodeo

The advertisement in Schwartz’s original selfie was part of Novig’s “Just Sports” campaign, launched on September 9. As the campaign featured Sweeney in provocative imagery, several female athletes criticized what they viewed as the sexualization of women in sports advertising.

While Sweeney is no stranger to such controversy, her crypto escapades are rarer – rarer but not absent. Indeed, Sweeney had actually been linked to cryptocurrency-related controversies before.

For example, in July 2024, hackers compromised her X account and used it to promote a SWEENEY meme coin. As the posts falsely suggested that the actress herself endorsed the token, the public was quick to judge.

Even more relevant to the current discussion, unverified reports also began circulating in July the following year, claiming that Ripple had hired Sweeney for an XRP promotional campaign. However, no official announcement confirming such a partnership followed.

Naturally, then, Schwartz’s recent post has left the market wondering whether the company might be hiding something more in relation to the actress.
