Modular AI blockchain 0G launches Testnet Newton v2

Modular AI blockchain 0G lunches Testnet Newton v2

0G, a data availability network and modular artificial intelligence (AI) blockchain, has unveiled Testnet Newton v2, introducing stability fixes and security enhancements, as per the latest updates shared with Finbold on June 10.

Following the success of Testnet v1, which saw over 600,000 wallet registrations and high community engagement, Testnet Newton v2 brings necessary upgrades, including greater scalability and interoperability as a Cosmos-based Proof-of-Stake (PoS) chain.

The new modules for data availability services and committees enhance network performance and reliability, ensuring consistent data accessibility.

Key features of Testnet Newton v2

Testnet Newton v2 includes advanced monitoring capabilities, improving the tracking of services such as storage nodes and key-value stores.

Additionally, the testnet’s faucet system now has stronger safeguards against abuse, maintaining integrity and efficiency.

Michael Heinrich, Co-Founder and CEO of 0G, emphasized the significance of this release:

“Testnet v2 is more than just an upgrade; it’s a testament to the vibrant 0G community. The overwhelming response to v1, with over 600,000 registered wallets, underscored the need for a more robust and scalable network. Testnet v2 delivers on that promise, introducing key features like data availability services and a rigorous validator selection process to ensure a secure and performant platform.”

The community’s enthusiasm for the release has led to over 2,500 validator applications, with 121 validators selected to maximize the testnet’s integrity.

Safeguarding the 0G ecosystem

To safeguard the 0G ecosystem, advanced plagiarism detection mechanisms have been installed, with further efforts concentrated on enhancing them.

Additionally, flexible policies for validator rotation are being developed to attract new participants, ensuring further security and inclusivity in the network.

Testnet Newton v2 thus marks a pivotal step forward for the platform, reinforcing its commitment to making AI services a public good while fostering a secure, scalable, and inclusive network.
