Monster insider trading alert for Micron stock

Monster insider trading alert for Micron stock

Just as it was reaching the 30-day low closing price of $878.84 on October 16, Micron (NASDAQ: MU) stock recorded its largest insider sale since August.

This signal is triggered upon the reporting of the trade to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Indeed, an October 20 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) revealed that President and Chief Technology and Products Officer, Scott DeBoer, traded 28,545 MU shares at an average price of $900, raising a total of $25.7 million.

The sale represents both DeBoer’s first such Micron equity move in 2026, one of the largest the company has seen since the year started, and an insider sale executed at the lowest average price since May.

Additionally, the President is only the second senior person at the firm to have dumped MU shares since August, with the other being Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer (CLO) Michael Ray, who raised a significantly smaller $5.9 million on October 14.

Micron stock price performance in October

Meanwhile, Micron stock itself experienced something of a rebound on the same day as DeBoer sold, rallying 1.96% to its latest closing price of $896.07, and diminishing the 30-day loss to 14.17%.

The Wednesday, October 21, pre-market session likewise brought good news to MU shareholders as the equity is up another 3.26% to its press-time price of $925.30.

This upside could, however, prove unstable as Micron appears to have achieved only partial success in negotiations with its Taiwanese workers and a one-day strike is anticipated later this week.

Furthermore, the company could be facing more trouble in the long run.

Is Micron stock in trouble?

Recent weeks delivered multiple warning signals about the state of the artificial intelligence (AI) ‘boom’ – or bubble – various data center construction and initial public offering (IPO) setbacks, allegations of rampant and unsustainable spending at some of the sector’s largest companies, and an overall strain on the available cash and credit.

For Micron in particular, the news that Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) overbought chips relative to its capacity to run them – news that came only weeks after similar allegations emerged regarding Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) purchases – could prove especially consequential.

Indeed, these particular developments highlighted that the supply constraints that drove personal computer (PC) and video game console prices through the roof were, in no small part, artificial.

Considering Micron played a significant role in the disruption by deliberately abandoning the consumer market late in 2025, it could find itself short on customer goodwill if its corporate clients end up wanting for cash.
