Nike stock is severely battered, but here’s why you need NKE before November

Nike (NYSE: NKE) stock has suffered a steep decline in 2026, but historical data suggests the shares could be poised for a recovery in November.

Notably, Nike stock has historically gained an average of 4.48% between November 14 and December 4, closing higher in all 10 years examined by SeasonalityX. However, the 100% historical win rate does not guarantee similar returns in 2026.

The data identified 676 recurring seasonal windows over the past decade, including 393 bullish and 283 bearish patterns. The October 31 to November 10 window delivered an average return of 1.45%, with an 80% win rate.

November 1 to December 1 recorded an average return of 6.19%, while November 2 to December 2 returned 6.25%. Both windows had 90% win rates.

These patterns point to potential seasonal upside, although Nike’s fundamentals remain under pressure. The stock rose 0.22% in the latest session to close at $37, while remaining down 41% year to date. Indeed, Nike is trading well below its 52-week high of $70.44.

Nike’s fiscal Q1 2027 revenue fell 4% year over year to $11.21 billion, while Greater China sales plunged 26%, marking nine consecutive quarters of declines. Intensifying local competition, weaker demand, and sluggish Sportswear and Jordan Brand sales have weighed on growth and pricing power.

Nike Direct revenue fell 6% to $17.7 billion in fiscal 2026, while digital sales declined 12%. In Q1 FY2027, Nike Direct revenue fell another 8% and digital sales dropped 13%.

Nike’s management focus

Management is refocusing on performance sports and rebuilding wholesale relationships. Nike also plans to end online sales arrangements with some major Chinese retail partners in early 2027 to regain control over distribution and pricing, although the changes could pressure near-term revenue.

At the moment, Nike expects fiscal 2027 revenue to decline at a high-single-digit rate. Its Pace restructuring program is expected to deliver $2.5 billion in cumulative savings through fiscal 2031, although additional restructuring charges are expected.

Despite weak sales, Nike retains a strong global brand, an established distribution network, and $8.4 billion in cash and short-term investments as of August 2026.

The company generated $46.4 billion in fiscal 2026 revenue, while performance footwear and North America have shown relative resilience. The 2026 FIFA World Cup also offered an opportunity to boost football product sales.

Nike’s gross margin rose 60 basis points year over year to 42.8% in fiscal Q1 2027, but stronger demand, less discounting and sustained cash generation are needed to confirm a recovery.
