Perceptron moves 800,000-node AI data network to Walrus

Perceptron moves 800,000-node AI data network to Walrus

Perceptron, a distributed intelligence infrastructure company, has announced a strategic migration to Walrus, a data platform built for artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

With Perceptron’s network spanning more than 800,000 global contributor nodes, the adoption of Walrus as its primary storage layer marks an important milestone in how datasets are stored, verified, and distributed.

Specifically, the two partners are looking to replace legacy centralized storage systems with one that relies on advanced cryptographic proof-of-data integrity and immutable history principles. As a result, users will be able to verify chain custody themselves.

“The decentralized brain that’s been connected to a centralized memory has left clients guessing. Not anymore. With Walrus, the data is signed, and our clients can now verify the chain of custody themselves. This shift from trust to verify yourself is exactly what the market has been waiting for,” Peter Anthony, Co-founder and CEO of Perceptron, said in a statement shared with Finbold on October 22.

A new AI data storage model for hedge funds and AI labs

As such, the integration promises to address some of the key problems characteristic of traditional cloud providers, such as egress fee friction and opaque pricing models.

The most important step will be to ensure that every dataset generated by Perceptron’s network carries a verifiable identifier, be it a real-time market signal or more elaborate, annotated training data. Among the primary beneficiaries of the new approach, the companies said, will be businesses serving enterprise customers.

“Hedge funds, quantitative researchers, and AI companies depend on real-time intelligence and they increasingly need to prove the integrity of that data. The next frontier of AI will be won on data, and as agentic systems demand proof over trust, the verifiability Walrus brings becomes essential,” Kimberly Logan, Head of Product at Walrus Foundation, added.

In short, the new joint effort by Perceptron and Walrus seeks to enable enterprise buyers, including hedge funds and AI labs, to verify the integrity of the data they use cryptographically. As verifiable data provenance becomes increasingly important under compliance frameworks in finance and other regulated industries, the companies are positioning the infrastructure to meet growing demand for traceable and verifiable datasets.
