This trading bot buys stocks bought by politicians; Here’s how much it’s up in 2026

While U.S. politicians have generally been very defensive about their right to invest in the stock market, their trading activity has become controversial for just how successful their investments have been relative to overall equity performance.

Though 2026 featured a somewhat slow start, Members of Congress appear to have, in more recent months, significantly improved their performance when compared to the average trader.

Specifically, the ‘Congress Buys Strategy’ run by the popular platform Quiver Quantitative is up 46.19% year-to-date (YTD) while the S&P 500 benchmark index rose a significantly smaller 12.54%. Similarly, the Nasdaq-100 is up 17.21% in 2026.

Given the difference, it is equally easy to see why many in the public believe that U.S. politicians are abusing their access to information ahead of the general public, and why some among them – such as Representative Dan Crenshaw – tend to vehemently defend their right to trade.

How the Nancy Pelosi portfolio performed in 2026

Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi, arguably the most famous Congressional trader, only slightly outperformed the market despite her reputation. Indeed, the Representative from California, who has held her seat for nearly four decades, saw her portfolio rise 14.89%.

Simultaneously, Congressman Tim Moore – a politican that has seen significantly less scrutiny than Pelosi for his stock market activity – appears to have seen the largest 2026 gains among Representatives with a dedicated Quiver Quantitative strategy: 26.27%.

Notably, the performance of said copy-trading bots is not entirely accurate due to the delay between members of Congress making and disclosing their trades.

Elsewhere, while U.S. Presidents were traditionally not involved with the debate over politicians’ stock market activities, Donald Trump’s second term altered the situation.

Not only has the billionaire Republican recently bragged about the returns on his investments, both supposedly made for the public good and allegedly for personal enrichment, but following his advice would, by press time, have been a savvy strategy.
