Tonkeeper launches support for Hamster Kombat transaction fees on TON blockchain

With an upcoming massive airdrop, Tonkeeper, the leading non-custody wallet for the TON (The Open Network) ecosystem, with more than 34 million monthly active users (MAUs), will launch its Battery feature support for Hamster Kombat (HMSTR), a cryptocurrency exchange CEO simulator game.

Specifically, Battery, likely available by October 1, once peak airdrop loads subside, will allow players to “charge” their wallets with the airdropped HMSTR tokens and use them to cover TON gas fees, simplifying crypto onboarding, streamlining transaction management and lowering gas costs, as per the information shared with Finbold on September 27.

Largest crypto onboarding event

At the same time, Tonkeeper expects this airdrop to be the largest onboarding event in TON’s history, bringing millions of brand-new users to the TON ecosystem thanks to the promise of a seamless non-custodial experience for those who wish to have full control over their crypto funds.

Furthermore, the team believes this will be a major trigger for TON adoption, considering it will practically demonstrate the scalability of its network as ideal for hosting Web3 games, as well as increase its current transaction load of around 135 transactions per second (tps) to a higher-than-ever 1,000 tps.

Indeed, Hamster Kombat, a crypto ‘mini-app’ Telegram game in which players complete quests to evolve from an inexperienced hamster into a crypto exchange CEO has witnessed major success among Web3 gamers, with the Hamster Kombat Telegram channel counting over 52 million subscribers.

What this means for TON and crypto

Commenting on the upcoming airdrop, Daniel Cawrey, the chief strategy officer at Tonkeeper, which also boasts the largest developer platform on TON, TON API, utilized by a wide array of projects within TON’s ecosystem, explained the significance of events such as this one:

“Airdrops from Telegram mini-apps like Hamster Kombat are crucial to onboarding new users into crypto. (…) Tonkeeper Battery is an important feature for new entrants. Battery allows us to provide a user experience on par with custodial wallets without controlling any user funds. We believe in the ‘not your keys, not your coins’ concept at Tonkeeper, and we want to give our users the best non-custody experience possible.”

Finally, Cawrey also highlighted that it was “time for crypto natives to buckle up for the ride,” as TON was “going where no blockchain has ever gone before in terms of user adoption,” and announced more details about “this behind-the-scenes journey” once they get the “Hamster airdrop rocket fired up and running.”

Meanwhile, TON has been at the center of a high-profile arrest of Telegram’s co-founder and CEO Pavel Durov in France under allegations of facilitating criminal activities on the popular messaging app, but the upcoming airdrop might provide a necessary distraction for the concerned community.

At press time, the price of TON’s native token stood at $5.84, down 1.14% in the last 24 hours, up 1.37% across the previous seven days, as well as gaining 9.27% over the month, whereas HMSTR was changing hands at $0.00679, down 30.42% on the day, as per data on September 27.
