xQc's net worth 2024: How rich is the massively popular Overwatch player and streamer?
Nemanja Curcic

xQc is a widely popular Twitch streamer who held the title of the most-watched streamer on Twitch in 2020, 2021, and 2022. He played Overwatch professionally before becoming a full-time streamer, even participating in the Overwatch World Cup on Team Canada from 2017 to 2019. Today, we will reveal xQc’s net worth and the sources of his substantial wealth.

Who is xQc?

xQc, whose real name is Félix Lengyel, is an online streamer and former professional Overwatch player who was the most-watched Twitch streamer for three years, from 2020 to 2022.

Lengyel enrolled in a CEGEP (Quebec’s publicly funded college) to study business administration but dropped out during his second year after he felt ‘directionless.’ Subsequently, at the age of 19, Lengyel started streaming on Twitch. However, he initially played League of Legends rather than Overwatch, adopting the pseudonym xQcLoL.

What does xQc mean?

Félix Lengyel made xQc, his pseudonym, from the last letter of his name (x) and the abbreviation for his home province, Quebec (Qc).

As he rose in popularity, xQc shifted to Overwatch, a competitive online FPS game by Blizzard Entertainment, changing his nickname to xQcOW. He participated in online tournaments and began his career as a professional Overwatch player in 2016. After experiencing considerable success and some controversy, he quit esports in 2019 to focus entirely on streaming.

Lengyel has earned significant wealth through his professional esports and streaming career. He is consistently listed among the highest-paid video game streamers. This culminated in June 2023 with a $100 million deal to join Kick, a platform rival to Twitch.

xQc’s net worth

While there is no precise information on Félix Lengyel’s wealth, CelebrityNetWorth estimated xQc’s net worth to be $50 million.

xQc’s esports career

After a period of streaming LoL, xQc switched to Overwatch and started competing in smaller online tournaments for various teams. In October 2016, Denial Esports, a noteworthy multi-game esports team, spotted and recruited him.

However, Denial quickly fell apart, and xQc formed Yikes, later Arc 6, with his former teammates and participated in Season Zero of Overwatch Contenders. In the 2017 Overwatch World Cup, xQc represented Team Canada, which reached the finals when South Korea defeated them. Still, he was named the event’s most valuable player.

From the beginning of his esports career, xQc has shown an unhealthy competitive drive, frequently neglecting sleeping, eating, and social interactions to play ranked games. His temperament would cause controversy throughout his career.

In 2017, xQc teamed up with Dallas Fuel, who competed in the inaugural season of the Overwatch League. However, his account received two suspensions due to wrongfully reporting users and throwing games on stream. Facing defeat against a rival team, xQc issued homophobic statements aimed toward a rival player who was openly gay on one of his streams.

Although he apologized, he was fined and suspended for almost a month.

Only weeks after returning, he faced another fine and suspension due to an accusation of racist use of an emote during his stream. He was ultimately released from the Dallas Fuel team.

Still, xQc maintained his presence on the Overwatch scene and became part of several teams. Furthermore, he represented Team Canada in the Overwatch World Cups in 2018 and 2019.

xQc’s return to streaming

After he left Dallas Fuel, xQc shifted from esports to streaming, and by May 2019, he had become one of Twitch’s most prominent variety streamers. In December 2019, he became Twitch’s most-watched streamer with almost eight million hours of watch time, beating second place by a wide margin. That year, he had nearly 54 million hours of watch time.

However, the period also brought controversy as in 2019, he received a three-day ban for streaming a video that showed a penis. In 2020, he also faced bans for streaming uncensored nudity in a game, as well as accidentally showing a video of gorillas having sex. His fourth Twitch suspension came from stream sniping during a Twitch Rivals event for a game called Fall Guys, resulting in a seven-day suspension.

Despite all this, he achieved over 174 million watch hours in 2020, eclipsing all other channels by nearly 50 million. In October 2021, information about top Twitch streamers’ earnings leaked, showing he was the highest-paid individual streamer on the platform, earning more than $8 million since 2019. Although the validity of the information was disputed, xQc confirmed that the number was accurate. He reaffirmed his top spot on Twitch in 2021 by accumulating 274 million watch hours.

In April 2022, xQc participated in a social experiment on Reddit called r/Place, where registered users changed the color of single pixels. He targeted a ‘My Little Pony’ art piece and subsequently received an influx of death threats: reportedly more threats in a single hour of that month than in the previous six years of streaming combined. Despite the backlash, he remained the leading streamer by total hours watched for 2022.

xQc Kick deal

In June 2023, xQc signed a non-exclusive deal with Kick, a streaming platform rival to Twitch. The deal was valued at $70 million over two years, with an additional $30 million in potential bonuses. Although he finished as the fourth-most watched streamer in 2023 with 89 million watch hours, the compensation was worth the drop.

The bottom line

As of 2024, several online sources have projected xQc’s net worth at $50 million. The amount makes Félix Lengyel, the man behind the pseudonym, one of the best-paid persons in the gaming industry and entertainment in general. If you receive criticism due to ‘excessive’ gaming from your friends and family, remember that it made some people incredibly rich!
