After pop singer Charli XCX gave the United States Vice President and Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris a huge endorsement on social media by referencing her newly release album ‘brat,’ the ‘brat energy’ narrative has gained massive popularity, including in cryptocurrency community.
Explaining the meaning behind the neon green ‘Brat’ concept, the singer said that it referred to “that girl who is a little messy and likes to party, and maybe says some dumb things sometimes, who feels herself but maybe also has a breakdown,” according to her TikTok video on July 1.
As it happens, Charli XCX recently posted on X that “kamala IS brat,” suggesting that Harris fits the above description and giving her a major boost among youth, alongside pushing the concept of a ‘Brat Summer.’ In this context, Finbold has examined which crypto assets could profit from the hype.
Picks for you
#1 Brat Summer (BRAT)
Somewhat unsurprisingly, Brat Summer (BRAT) itself is already an asset in the crypto market, gaining prominence after its launch via meme coin platform Pump.fun on July 17, before Harris’ campaign embraced the meme, seemingly referring exclusively to Charli XCX’s album and the ensuing ‘Brat summer’ trend.
As it happens, following Charli XCX’s praise of Harris, the token on the Solana (SOL) network soared from a market capitalization of $5,000 to $105,000, and once the VP embraced the hype, it skyrocketed close to $5 million over the next two days, albeit dropping to $2.6 million since, currently trading at $0.002132.
#2 Kamala Horris (KAMA)
Furthermore, another, more unexpected winner of the ‘Brat summer’ hype is the unofficial parody memecoin of the ‘Brat’ herself, called Kamala Horris (KAMA) on the Solana network and which has exploded by 10,000% over the past three months, aided by President Joe Biden’s retirement from the race.
For the moment, the token is changing hands at the price of $0.02551, as per data on July 25, recording a market cap of $25.5 million, with a decline of 30% in the last 24 hours but an increase of 18.60% in the past six hours, which reflects the volatile nature of meme coins.
Conclusion
Despite the crypto community generally not being big on Kamala Harris, the ‘brat energy’ narrative and neon green aesthetics pushed by parts of the media have taken hold. However, meme coins can be highly volatile assets with a low lifespan, so doing one’s own research is critical when investing.
