Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) founder Jeff Bezos is set to offload a staggering $5.4 billion worth of his stake in the e-commerce giant.

Under the plan, Bezos intends to sell 25 million common shares of Amazon through Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, with the transaction date listed as June 27, 2025.

At the last market price, the sale equates to an approximate value of $5.428 billion.

This massive sale coincides with Bezos’ recent wedding to longtime partner Lauren Sánchez, a star-studded and controversial event reportedly costing around $50 million.

The trading plan announced back in May is part of a broader strategy expected to run until May 29, 2026. The disclosure came shortly after Amazon reported its first-quarter earnings for 2025, showing revenue growth of 9% to $155.7 billion and profit of $17.1 billion.

Bezos, who still owns approximately 9.6% of Amazon’s outstanding shares, has regularly trimmed his holdings to support a range of ventures.

Bezos increasing AMZN stock sales

In 2024 alone, he sold more than $13 billion worth of Amazon stock. The proceeds have supported projects such as his aerospace company Blue Origin, and philanthropic initiatives like the $2 billion Day One Fund and the $10 billion Bezos Earth Fund, launched in 2020.

Though Bezos stepped down as Amazon CEO in 2021, he remains a key figure as executive chair, and his stock sales are likely to draw investor scrutiny.

Meanwhile, Amazon stock continues to perform strongly, firmly holding above the $200 level. At the close of the last trading session, AMZN shares rose 2.85% to $223. Year-to-date, the stock is up approximately 1.4%.

On the other hand, Wall Street remains bullish on Amazon. According to TipRanks, 49 analysts have set an average 12-month price target of $243.24, suggesting a potential upside of 12.03%. Forecasts range from a high of $305 to a low of $195.
