The equities market is getting volatile following the midterm elections, so we asked two leading artificial intelligence (AI) models whether Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) or Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) was a better-positioned stock for 2027.
Despite being outperformed in terms of share prices appreciation this year, Nvidia emerged as the winner, although both models argued that AMD could be a strong growth contender.
As ChatGPT pointed out, Nvidia offers a stronger established competitive position, and according to Claude, it enjoys a much larger scale, which should enable it to benefit from emerging technologies much faster.

ChatGPT sides with Nvidia
According to OpenAI’s chatbot, Nvidia has a more compelling fundamental investment case, with graphics processing units (GPUs), CUDA software ecosystem, and integrated AI computing platforms.
Indeed, the company’s financial performance further strengthens that argument. The semiconductor giant reported $96.2 billion in revenue for its second quarter of fiscal 2027, representing a 106% year-over-year increase. Looking ahead, management projects third-quarter revenue of approximately $108 billion.
Nevertheless, ChatGPT identified AMD as a potentially attractive alternative. That is because the company’s smaller market position gives it considerable room to capture additional market share as hyperscalers diversify in AI.
For example, the company’s Instinct accelerator lineup and EPYC server processors could help it secure additional contracts from major cloud providers. However, the algorithm cautioned that the challenge of competing against Nvidia’s ecosystem would be tough, which is why it ultimately chose Nvidia.

Claude gives Nvidia a slight edge too
Anthropic’s AI assistant declined to name a clear winner at first, but like ChatGPT, it admitted that Nvidia’s scale is hard to ignore. For instance, it noted that the firm is guiding for roughly 70% revenue growth in calendar 2027.
The algorithm continued to discuss AMD’s story as a steeper climb from a smaller base. As far as performance goes, the company posted record third-quarter revenue of $13.4 billion, up 45%, with data center up 97% to $8.5 billion, and management expects data center revenue to grow “well over 100%” in 2027.

Nonetheless, Claude scored the two contenders on some key growth factors, concluding that AMD leads in all categories except growth rate. Conversely, Nvidia scores higher in terms of visibility, margins, and execution safety.
Judging by the score, Claude too sees Nvidia as more likely to perform better in 2027. But, the chatbot noted some risks, including margin pressure, customers building their own chips, and the absence of China revenue in its outlook.

Nvidia or AMD for 2027?
Ultimately, both AI models see Nvidia as a better-positioned stock to outperform AMD in 2027. The chief reasons for the optimism are its established market dominance, stronger competitive advantages, and greater revenue visibility.
However, the chatbots added that AMD remains a credible challenger, with its expanding data center business and growing role in the AI infrastructure market offering considerable upside potential.
Therefore, while Nvidia appears to be the safer bet at first glance, AMD could deliver stronger growth if it continues gaining market share.
