Polkadot (DOT) recently set a new record when it comes to the speed of minting non-fungible tokens (NFTs), according to the latest information shared with Finbold.
The massive mint was completed on Polkadot’s parachain, Unique Network, and created 4930 NFTs each minute. In total, the blockchain went through three batches of 100,000 new non-fungible tokens as part of the comprehensive speed and efficacy test.
Polkadot hopes that the layer-0’s performance will position it as an attractive network for Web3 gaming projects and will introduce Web2-type instant gratification to its users.

Commenting on the achievement, the CEO of Unique Network, Aleksandar Mitrovic, expressed his enthusiasm for Polkadot’s abilities:
“Working on Polkadot offers great flexibility. We are free to optimize the code and forklessly upgrade the chain. Our core developers have been waiting for an opportunity to test a series of performance improvement ideas on a large scale.”
The Web3 game that helped set the record
Polkadot’s recent stress test was done by minting hundreds of thousands of Bounty Hunter Tickets (BHTs) NFTs for the Web3 game called Forever Has Fallen. These tokens offer players access to an in-game location called the Hunters Lair.
Kimon Lycos, Founder and CEO of Incite, the Production Studio behind Forever Has Fallen, was especially pleased by the opportunities presented by the blockchain’s speed:
Because our production is first and foremost about fun, we want Web3 elements to be under the hood, and to have this type of speed will enable a Web2 type experience of instant gratification.
Mitrovic was likewise enthusiastic about the fact that working with Forever Has Fallen offers his platform means to utilize its capabilities while presenting ‘a business case that talks to mass consumers.’
