Self-proclaimed Satoshi accuses Apple of violating copyright by putting Bitcoin white paper on MacBooks

As soon as it was discovered that the Bitcoin white paper was integrated into Apple’s macOS operating systems, self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto Dr. Craig Wright accused the tech giant of breaching copyright laws.

Indeed, on April 6, Wright turned to Twitter to respond to a message which stated that Apple might be infringing upon copyright. The tweet also asked for the computer scientist’s view on the matter after it came to light earlier this week that the Bitcoin white paper is buried deep inside new MacBooks; White said, “Yes.”

Some on social media have openly encouraged Wright to sue Apple, even though doing so would almost certainly fail or be counterproductive given the company’s financial and legal resources.

Notably, Finbold reported on April 6 the first discovery was made by tech writer Andy Baio, who discovered that a copy of the white paper had been covertly hidden in Apple’s macOS since the Mojave version in 2018.

The self-proclaimed Satoshi is well-known for his contentious approach to asserting intellectual property rights over Bitcoin and its underlying technology.

Patent trolling refers to submitting many patent applications all at once, in this case, covering Bitcoin and blockchain technologies. Wright hopes to have legal authority over the further creation and use of the technology in this manner.

In doing so, an individual or company can take legal action against other businesses to protect their intellectual property. Because of this, they may ask for expensive licensing and royalty payments and fight costly legal disputes.
