U.S. Representative Maria Elvira Salazar is the only lawmaker among seven members of Congress to report a sale of SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) stock since the company went public in June.

According to her trading disclosure, Salazar sold between $1,001 and $15,000 worth of SpaceX stock on September 24, 2026, at an average share price of $148.03. She disclosed the transaction on October 7.

The sale is notable because Salazar had purchased SpaceX shares on August 12 at an average price of $146.27, before selling shares approximately six weeks later.

Salazar serves on the House Foreign Affairs and Financial Services committees, though no evidence directly links her committee roles to the SpaceX sale.

Meanwhile, despite being relatively new to the public market, SpaceX has attracted interest from members of Congress, with six lawmakers purchasing shares in Elon Musk’s company.

Gilbert Ray Cisneros Jr., William R. Timmons IV, John McGuire, Daniel Meuser, Jared Moskowitz and John James all reported purchases.

Notably, SpaceX went public in June 2026, pricing its IPO at $135 per share and a valuation of approximately $1.77 trillion.

SPCX stock fundamentals

SpaceX’s expanding business spans rocket launches, Starlink satellite internet, and AI infrastructure. The company generated $27.08 billion in revenue during the first nine months of 2026 and $4.4 billion in third-quarter net income.

However, it spent $48.1 billion on capital expenditures and burned nearly $35 billion in cash over the same period.

Its high valuation, heavy investment needs, and ambitious projects, including Starship, could fuel share-price volatility despite strong revenue growth.
