Leopold Aschenbrenner, a former OpenAI researcher and one of the youngest billionaires, disclosed a Q2 2026 position in Keel Infrastructure (NASDAQ: KEEL), formerly known as Bitfarms, worth roughly $151 million at the time, on August 14.
Fast forward to press time, September 4, Keel has added approximately $148 million to its market cap overnight, its stock rising 7.72% following this week’s developments with the company’s proposed 96-megawatt data centre in Sherbrooke, a city in southern Quebec, Canada.
In other words, a position such as Aschenbrenner’s would have gained roughly $11.7 million in value over the past 24 hours, rising from about $151 million to approximately $162.7 million.

Was Leopold Aschenbrenner right about Keel?
At a September 1 public plenary meeting, Sherbrooke officials outlined the approval process, a potential timeline, and an alternative plan that would allow Keel subsidiary Backbone Hosting Solutions to convert its three existing Bitcoin (BTC) mining sites into data centres instead of consolidating the operations at a new campus.
Under Plan A, Backbone would consolidate the electricity allocated to its three existing Sherbrooke mining operations at the proposed campus. The new facility would be designed for high-performance computing and artificial-intelligence (AI) infrastructure. On the other hand, Plan B would allow the company to seek approval to convert its three existing sites into data centres if the new campus does not proceed.
Under a July agreement, Backbone had six months to submit its conditional-use application. If all conditions are met, including municipal and provincial approvals, city officials expect the final land-sale agreement could be signed in 2027.
“We have now spoken with 129 investors since our Q1 earnings call on May 11. For comparison, in the entirety of 2025, we met with 168 investors. While we always strive to make ourselves accessible to investors, we have to pump the brakes on further investor calls,” Ben Gagnon, CEO and Director of Keel Infrastructure, wrote on X in May.
While the final result is not yet known, as Director General at Sherbrooke Gaétan Drouin said, the prospect itself already appears to support share prices, making Keel one of the best performing Leopold Aschenbrenner stocks so far this month.
