United States Representative Thomas Kean has disclosed another sale of Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) stock, adding to a growing pattern of exits from the technology giant.

The New Jersey Republican reported selling between $1,001 and $15,000 worth of Google parent Alphabet Class A shares on August 27, 2026. The transaction was disclosed publicly on September 12, roughly 16 days after the trade. On the day of the sale, GOOGL closed near $340.65.

The latest transaction stands out because it is part of a series of Alphabet stock sales by Kean throughout 2026. Public disclosures show he also sold GOOGL shares on July 22, June 24, and June 2, with no corresponding purchases reported during the same period.

GOOGL stock performance

By the time the disclosure became public, Alphabet shares had already moved higher. From the August 27 sale date through press time, GOOGL gained approximately 2.57%, while the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), a widely used benchmark for the broader market, declined about 1.33%.

Kean’s Congress trade on the August 27 filing was not limited to Alphabet. On the same day, he also reported selling shares of Microsoft and Johnson & Johnson. A few days earlier, he had purchased shares of infrastructure company MasTec.

Notably, GOOGL is one of Kean’s most frequently traded positions, with activity heavily skewed toward sales rather than purchases.

Over several years, his disclosed trading activity has spanned dozens of companies and generated an estimated trade volume worth millions of dollars.

While there is no evidence of wrongdoing, the consistency of the Google stock sales has attracted scrutiny given Alphabet’s strong business performance and its status as one of the most closely followed companies in the market.

The stock’s performance came amid strong fundamentals. Alphabet recently reported quarterly revenue of $119.8 billion and earnings per share of $9.11, both ahead of Wall Street expectations.

Kean’s trading history shows a pattern of selling technology and healthcare stocks while rotating into other sectors.

Some congressional trading trackers suggest his sales have outperformed the broader market in certain analyses, though results vary.
