Revealed: Congress' busiest stock traders in the last year

Over the past few weeks, Finbold has unveiled reports exposing the substantial stock market activities of certain US Congress members, some of which resulted in multimillion-dollar profits.

A portion of these trades attracted controversy, partly because of their oddly perfect timing, while others saw politicians capitalize on the ongoing Middle East conflict

Regardless of geopolitical tensions, the vigor with which Congress members engage in stock trading remains unabated. Today, on November 14, we delve into the past year’s trading activities, shedding light on the most active members on Capitol Hill.

The most active congressional traders

Over the past year, certain Congress members carried out hundreds of stock trades.

Right on top of the list is Joshua S. Gottheimer, an American attorney who has served as the US representative for New Jersey’s 5th congressional district since 2017.

Notably, Gottheimer made 554 stock trades in the past year, with an estimated trade volume of more than $56.4 million, according to data by Quiver Quantitative

When it comes to his recent investments, the US representative bought stocks such as Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), WW Grainger (NYSE: GWW), and Allegro MicroSytems (NASDAQ: ALGM), among others.

The second most active Congressional trader in terms of estimated trade volume is Daniel Goldman, a member of the US House of Representatives from New York’s 10th congressional district.

Intriguingly, Goldman hasn’t made any purchases recently, and the majority of his trades were sales. Among the stocks he sold in recent months are Sig Group, Wolters Kluwer, and Abbvie Inc (NYSE: ABBV).

Goldman made 1184 trades over the past year, with a total trading volume of over $32 million.

Gottheimer and Goldman were by far the two Congress members who accounted for the highest trading volume during this period.

Other US representatives active on Wall Street

Simultaneously, other well-known US representatives that were significantly active in the market are Tommy Tubberville, Kevin Hern, and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi

Each of the three Representatives engaged in estimated trading volumes surpassing $8 million over the past year.
