Solana Mobile plans to launch second crypto smartphone

Solana Mobile is gearing up to release its second smartphone following the unexpected performance of its inaugural crypto-enabled device, the Saga.

The upcoming device seeks to uphold the essential characteristics of its forerunner, including a built-in crypto wallet, customized Android software, and a specialized dApp store catering to cryptocurrency applications, as reported by CoinDesk on January 16.

In addition, the new phone will boast a more appealing price tag and upgraded hardware. This decision follows challenges encountered with the initial pricing of the Saga at $1,000, prompting adjustments to stimulate sales.

The launch of a second smartphone by Solana Mobile highlights the increasing enthusiasm and possibilities at the crossroads of mobile technology and cryptocurrency.

With improved features and a more competitive price point, the new device seeks to build upon the Saga’s initial success and solidify mobile-first solutions within crypto trading and NFT collecting.

The unlikely success of Saga

The success of the Saga, especially in generating returns through token and NFT airdrops for its users, has greatly bolstered the Solana (SOL) community. It has also sparked developers’ curiosity in crafting additional mobile applications for the Solana ecosystem.

A favorable reception of the Saga’s features and advantages has paved the way for the eagerly awaited debut of Solana Mobile’s second smartphone, which holds the promise of broadening the influence and functionality of mobile-centric platforms in crypto and NFT.

Additionally, its popularity surged abruptly when cryptocurrency traders recognized that the phone included an allocation of BONK tokens, surpassing the device’s cost. Within a week, the Saga experienced a complete sell-out.

This success can be measured by the amount of bids the scarce existing Saga smartphones face. A factory-sealed Saga device is attracting bids on eBay at $3,200, marking a fivefold increase from its price just five weeks ago.

Whether the new phone from Solana will be able to replicate the unexpected success of its predecessor and supply investors with airdrops and convenient ways into the cryptocurrency market remains to be seen.
