Veteran trader and market technician Peter Brandt has projected that XRP could eventually reach $5.4, representing an increase of roughly 260% from its current price of around $1.5.
Brandt’s outlook, posted on X on September 21, is based on a long-term monthly chart, which shows XRP is breaking above a key resistance trendline that has been in place since as early as 2018.
However, the cryptocurrency would first need to recover further from the correction earlier this year and clear several important technical levels. Accordingly, Brandt stressed that the projection is not a trade recommendation but a potential long-term price target.
This is my long-term chart of XRP. It implies an eventual advance to $5.40. A claim of a “call” or simple presentation of a chart is NOT a trade. People who claim “trades” need to provide proof or else the claims are BS. An X post is NOT proof,” Brandt wrote.
What’s next for XRP?
XRP has indeed gained some momentum in recent days, largely due to significant accumulation by large holders, who have reportedly purchased more than $2 billion worth of the cryptocurrency in a matter of days.
As a result, the token climbed back above $1.5, signaling renewed demand after a period of weakness. On-chain data analyzed by analyst Ali Martinez on September 21, however, suggests that XRP could still have room to advance further before encountering a major area of historical supply.
“The URPD shows relatively little resistance ahead until $1.60, where roughly 2.50 billion XRP previously changed hands. That’s the next major level I’m watching for potential profit-taking before looking for the next setup,” Martinez wrote.
Specifically, the UTXO Realized Price Distribution (URPD) indicates relatively limited resistance below $1.6, where approximately 2.5 billion XRP previously changed hands. The $1.6 level could therefore become an important area for traders to monitor, as increased selling or profit-taking may emerge if XRP reaches that price.
For now, Brandt’s chart places XRP near $1.49 in September 2026, below its 18-month moving average (MA) of approximately $1.88. That leaves the longer-term moving average as an overhead technical level while XRP remains within the current corrective structure.
