Wall Street updates CoreWeave stock price target after double earnings beat

Wall Street updates CoreWeave stock price target after double earnings beat

On Wednesday, August 12, CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV) stock saw a veritable deluge of Wall Street analyst rating and price target updates.

Specifically, no fewer than twelve institutional experts revised their outlook for the neocloud, with as many as eight issuing a positive recommendation and only four assessing the equity as a ‘Hold.’ Additionally, CoreWeave shares received no ‘Sell’ ratings on the morning of August 12.

Simultaneously, Wells Fargo’s (NYSE: WFC) Michael Turrin proved the most optimistic among his peers when he revised his 12-month price target for CRWV stock from $155 to $160 and assigned a ‘Buy’ recommendation to the neocloud.

On the flip side, Ryan Lountzis from Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) was the least bullish, having issued a ‘Hold’ rating on CoreWeave equity and a relatively bearish $99 forecast.

CoreWeave earnings bolster Wall Street confidence

Elsewhere, the flood of Wall Street revisions came shortly after the cryptocurrency miner-turned-artificial intelligence (AI) cloud provider published its second-quarter (Q2) earnings report.

Within the three months, CoreWeave recorded $2.58 billion in revenue – $2.56 billion was expected – and a $1.03 loss per share when analysts were calling for $1.20.

Furthermore, the company announced it is expecting sales to climb to between $3.45 billion and $3.6 billion in Q3 – above the previously expected $3.43 billion – but also that its capital expenditures (CapEx) will rise to the range of $11.5 billion to $13.5 billion.

CoreWeave also cited rising AI infrastructure demand in its report, though some analysts recently estimated that as much as 70% of the total across the sector is linked only to Anthropic and OpenAI. Indeed, the neocloud also revealed its involvement in Meta Platforms’ (NASDAQ: META) own business with Anthropic.

Finally, investors arguably proved even more pleased with the company’s earnings than Wall Street analysts. Specifically, CoreWeave stock soared roughly 17% since the filing and is, at its press-time price of $107.02, up 24.43% in the weekly chart.
