Specifically, on September 4, the chief executive sold 95,000 AMD shares at an average price of $506.8 for a total of $48 million.
Notably, the trade was executed on the day the semiconductor giant recorded its fourth-highest closing price of the last 30 days: in ascending order, the other three were on August 17, September 11, and September 9.
Additionally, CEO Lisa Su has been responsible for the largest AMD stock insider trades throughout 2026. For example, she sold 125,000 shares for over $55 million in mid-May and an equal number for $57.5 million on June 10.
Her August trade of a significantly smaller 15,000 that raised $7.2 million appears to have been an outlier.

Is CEO Lisa Su’s AMD stock insider trading a sell signal?
Meanwhile, the overall trading cadence at AMD indicates that there is little information that can be inferred from the sales – a notion that is further reinforced by the strict reporting standards that are mandatory for such stock market activities.
Still, Lisa Su’s dumping of $48 million worth of Advanced Micro Devices shares is somewhat notable for coming after a relatively long pause and shortly after the equity recorded one of the stronger rallies of the summer.
Furthermore, it came at a time of particularly dense insider selling among big tech executives – Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) Director Mark Stevens and Amazon’s (NASDAQ: AMZN) Jeff Bezos are just some of the many high-profile individuals who sold tens of millions worth of equity or more since early August – and just ahead of the latest artificial intelligence (AI)-driven extinction narrative.

2026 AMD stock price performance
Elsewhere, despite the summer slowdown, AMD notably remains one of the top-performing major technology stocks of the year. So far, the stock is, at $493.41, 120.41% in the green year-to-date (YTD) despite retracing 15.62% from the 52-week high of $584.73.

Looking ahead, however, the equity’s performance could rapidly shift for the worse between the possible AI slowdown and the imminent interest rate decision – a decision that could lead to an almost immediate stock market pullback of between 8% and 10%.
